Chris Christie's Own Self-Exonerating Bridgegate Report Due Out Today
March 27, 2014

JOTD:

..the governor confirmed that Gibson Dunn did not interview many key figures in Bridgegate, including former deputy chief of staff Bridget Anne Kelly, former campaign manager Bill Stepien and former Port Authority appointees Bill Baroni and David Wildstein.

Christie said the report is still credible.

On March 24th, I wrote that Chris Christie's high powered lawyers said their own internal review was completed and-surprise-Christie was innocent: Gov. Christie Clears Himself Of Bridgegate Scandal With His Own Probe, but they hadn't released their review yet.

They are finally releasing their findings today.

The attorney who Gov. Chris Christie hired to investigate scandals that have engulfed his office will release his final report on Thursday, the governor’s office announced tonight.

Randy Mastro, the lawyer who is heading the internal view for firm Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, will also answer questions from reporters at his New York office. The full report, with exhibits and appendices, will be available at 11:30 a.m. at the start of the news conference at: www.GDCReport.com.

The 300-page report will address the controversy over the closing of lanes to the George Washington Bridge last fall and allegations that Christie held Hurricane Sandy relief funds hostage for political gain.

At least Gov. Christie admitted that his team failed to interview all the main perpetrators of the Bridgegate scandal. I'd say that report is mucho incomplete which destroys its credibility. Am I right? Well, he thinks it still is credible.

On his radio show, the governor confirmed that Gibson Dunn did not interview many key figures in Bridgegate, including former deputy chief of staff Bridget Anne Kelly, former campaign manager Bill Stepien and former Port Authority appointees Bill Baroni and David Wildstein. Also uncooperative, according to Christie, were Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer and Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich.

Christie said the report is still credible.

It's credible because he says it is, you jackasses.

“You don’t just come to conclusions from interviews,” he said. “There’s lots and lots of documents that involve all those people which have been part of the public record and will be becoming part of the public record as we go forward and you can discern a lot from that.”

The WSJ adds some more information.

The review leaves remaining questions about the extent of the involvement of former Christie campaign manager Bill Stepien and Bill Baroni, Mr. Christie's former top Port Authority staff appointee, the person said.

The report will address the reason for the lane closures, and is expected to argue that Ms. Kelly and Mr. Wildstein had "ulterior motives" for the action, the person said. Mr. Baroni testified last year that the lane closures were a traffic study commissioned by the Port Authority, but that theory has been discredited.

Obviously Christie was going to throw them all under the bus to save his political career. I wonder how they all will respond?
