Good for Samantha Bee for calling out all of those with the vapors over identity politics, which is, as she says, "the dismissive term for what we used to call civil rights and equality."
And off we go, with a bit of a pep talk.
"Stop it, Democrats. There's loser Stockholm Syndrome and then there's taking your talking points from Steve Doocy and pals." (Looking at YOU, Rep. Tim Ryan)
And then Bee finally -- FINALLY -- did something no media outlet has done. Not one. She actually showed video of a few of the MANY times Hillary Clinton campaigning on...jobs. Imagine that. It turns out she shaped her campaign for all of those people suffering from economic anxiety and it worked.
It's true. In the battleground states, Hillary Clinton won with voters who were actually concerned about the economy, another fact that made it into this segment but usually is overlooked by those who want to blame her for worrying about transgender bathrooms but not about jobs.
Turning to North Carolina, Bee proved that it is actually possible to care about transgender bathrooms and still win elections. It turns out people actually do have enough decency to care about civil rights.
Still, a warning. "If your panic over a loss makes you abandon your principles and the people who actually vote for you, then you'll be in the wilderness for a decade. Or until the Trump administration sells the wilderness to oil companies."
And a suggestion. "By all means, invite white working people to the party. Just don't let them take over the DJ table."
And as always, Bee makes it fun to think about things no one else talks about seriously.
