Here's one of those voters Mark Halperin's "most talented presidential candidate" Donald Trump has attracted.
Just listen to him go on, while Brooke Baldwin can barely contain herself.
"You know what? (Trump) loves America," voter Dan Ray explained. "He loves -- he's fighting for us to remain a sovereign nation."
After some argle-bargle about restoring our sovereignty at the borders, Ray continued, "We don't want to be part of the new world order. We don't want to join the North American Union...We want to be a band of 50 sovereign states."
When asked about Ted Cruz, Ray declared, “Ted Cruz was born on Canadian soil to a Cuban national. That’s not the definition of a natural-born citizen as articulated in Article II, Clause V of the U.S. Constitution."
"He, like Marco Rubio and like Barry Soetoro, are not eligible to be in the office of president. Period, amen,” he emphasized.
Baldwin was pretty clearly flustered at that point, and took issue with his declaration of eligibility, but Mr. Ray was having none of it.
This is your hard-core Trump voter right here. Baseball, mom, apple pie, and white supremacy, ready to play his Trump card.

But whether Trump more or less wraps it up tomorrow or the drama goes all the way to the convention, our democracy has already been damaged. We won’t know for some time just how badly. As political scientist Brendan Nyhan explained in a series of tweets last night, there is likely to be some moderation in Trump’s rhetoric and actions but that will not change the fact that something very dangerous has already happened.
If Trump's "talent" has brought this type of voter out, I wouldn't call that much of a gift. Anyone can appeal to the basest, deepest, darkest emotions of humans and stir them up. It's much more difficult to inspire them to reach for more noble causes.
