Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum was on Wolf Blitzer's CNN show earlier today lamenting about his Iowa victory in 2012 and what he needs to do today to recapture that magic.
The topic of Ted Cruz came up, who is almost in a dead heat with Trump in Iowa at this time and Rick immediately trashed the Texas Senator as the most hated person in politics.
Santorum: He should be doing victory laps around the state of Iowa right now, and he has been fumbling all the way to the goal line.
I think folks are going to take a look at what happened here in Iowa and say we need someone, number one, who actually is a conviction conservative, somebody who hasn't changed his opinion on a bunch of issues, and I think Ted Cruz has been outed on those and someone who actually isn't going to go to Washington and make the claim that the reason I can get things done is because everybody—Republicans, Democrats, liberals, conservatives—hate me—I don't know how you think you can actually accomplish anything on any group of people if everybody, even people who agree with you, hate you. people don't hate me...
It's true, everybody hates Cruz.
I have to say how comical this whole Iowa primary has been. The entire Republican field are attacking each other and Santorum must know he has no chance in the GOP primary, but he's taken the time out to trash Ted Cruz as hard as anyone has.
Does this lend more credence to the idea that the establishment rather have Trump as their nominee instead of Cruz? I think so.
