Wow, Ted. Why so quiet? You normally have so much to say, yet when confronted by some young immigrants, you turn tail and run. Aren't you proud of your positions?

Cruz has opposed laws offering in-state college tuition to the children of undocumented immigrants and has also railed against President Barack Obama’s executive actions that would allow millions of undocumented immigrants to stay and work in the U.S. without being deported.

As fiery and combative as Cruz may be, he is sure to face stiff opposition from young people like Sofia Campos, board chair of the immigrant youth movement United We Dream. Since 2007 Campos has been organizing, protesting, and lobbying in favor of legislation that would make it easier for children whose parents entered the country illegally – like herself – to work and study here.

United We Dream campaigns led by Campos raise awareness and help increase the pressure on President Obama. In 2012 he signed an executive order that gave an estimated 1.7 million students temporary permission to stay in the U.S.

“What it meant was that we could have hope,” Campos told Fusion. “It’s definitely been the biggest success of the immigrant youth movement,” she added. “But this is not where we stop. This isn’t even close to where we stop.”
