Updated: It's now official.
Gov. Chris Christie suspended his campaign for president Wednesday, ending his quest to become the first New Jerseyan to win the White House since since Woodrow Wilson a century ago.
The governor had an in person meeting with staff in Morristown where he thanked them for their support and suspended campaign, sources with knowledge of the event told NJ Advance Media.
Ding dong, the wicked bully is almost dead. Chris Christie is going to end his presidential bid sometime today.
There's no reason to go to sit in South Carolina, in a hotel room to hear that. We'll go home, we haven't been home for two weeks. So we can actually get a change of clothes. (laughter)

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who finished sixth in New Hampshire, will end his presidential bid, multiple campaign sources said Wednesday.
“We bet the ranch on New Hampshire, and no one ever anticipated the Trump phenomenon,” a source close to Christie told ABC News. “He’s a realist.”
Christie performed poorly at the polls even though he made the biggest splash at Saturday night’s GOP debate when he called out and humiliated Marco Rubio for using the same language four times to slam President Obama.
Donald Trump's style is more like Christie's, but he's not as smooth as the New Jersey governor when it comes to communicating and debating.
However, Christie's biggest mistakes came in 2012, when the conservative base turned on him for hugging Obama after Hurricane Sandy and his ridiculous keynote speech during the RNC convention.
Now, he'll be remembered for turning Marco Rubio into a robot.
