These guys hit the post-rock scene pretty early on in the game. Couple their forward-thinking with their great musicianship and you've got yourself one awesome band. To be honest, I'm not much of a post-rock kind of guy, but there are a few bands that I'm into, and this is definitely one of them. I find that a lot of post-rockers take a long time to develop their ideas and have trouble doing it in interesting ways, but Tortoise stands out among their contemporaries. A mix of complex, thought-out arranging and developing complimentary, yet individually interesting musical ideas makes these guys a force to be reckoned with.
