Oh, he's going for the old "plausible deniability" play. I knew he would! Let me remind you once again that Bill Stepien (Christie's campaign manager) was copied in on some of the emails. Which, knowing the way campaigns operate, leads me to suspect that he was the "plausible deniability" buffer between Christie and his staffers. Coincidentally, it was just announced today that Stepien is in line to take over the NJ Republican party.
TRENTON, N.J. - January 8, 2014 (WPVI) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has released a statement after the release of emails and text messages that suggest one of his top aides deliberately created traffic jams in a New Jersey town last September to punish its mayor.
The statement from Christie reads:
"What I've seen today for the first time is unacceptable. I am outraged and deeply saddened to learn that not only was I misled by a member of my staff, but this completely inappropriate and unsanctioned conduct was made without my knowledge. One thing is clear: this type of behavior is unacceptable and I will not tolerate it because the people of New Jersey deserve better.
This behavior is not representative of me or my Administration in any way, and people will be held responsible for their actions."
