Known for spearheading the "nuevo tango" movement in Argentina, Astor Piazzolla is an accomplished composer and bandoneon player, having incorporated jazz and classical elements into formerly minimal, traditional tango arrangements. Not only did he incorporate musical elements of other genres into this new style, but he also greatly broadened the instrumentation, turning it into what is probably the most widely recognized form of tango today.
