According to iCasualties, this brings the total number of allied servicemembers killed in Iraq to 4,712; in Afghanistan, 1,741. During this same period, Iraq Body Count lists 112 Iraqi civilians killed. In Afghanistan, the number of civilian deaths keeps rising, most blamed on insurgents. During the period of March 21 to April 21, 173 Afghan civilians were killed, a 33% increase over the same period last year.
