This Week marks the passings of civil rights leader Rev. Benjamin Hooks, former LA Police Chief Daryl Gates, former Clinton administration official Arnold Kanter, trampoline inventor George Nissen. In addition, the Pentagon has released the names of five servicemembers killed in Afghanistan.

US Navy LT Miroslav Zilberman, 31, Columbus, OH

US Army SGT Sean M Durkin, 24, Aurora, CO

US Army SPC Joseph T Caron, 21, Tacoma, WA

US Army CPL Michael D Jankiewicz, 23, Ramsey NJ

US Army PFC Jonathon D Hall, 23, Chattanooga, TN

This brings the total number of allied servicemembers killed in Iraq to 4,709; in Afghanistan, 1,731. During this same period, Iraq Body Count lists 30 Iraqi civilians killed. According to USA Today, 72 Afghan civilians were killed through NATO strikes in the first three months of this year, up from 29 during the same period last year.
