(Tim Buckley - a haunting brilliance)
Continuing the Week of the Familiar, I thought I would include a taste of Tim Buckley, from his first album released in 1966. This track, Strange Street Affair Under Blue is probably not as well known as his later material (such as The Dolphins, for example), but it was his first album that brought so much attention to him as an artist and writer of immense talent. Some months ago I ran an interview he did on the radio show The Firesign Theatre did called Radio Free Oz from October 1967. By 1967 he already had a very loyal following, certainly in Southern California where he first established his reputation as a gifted and brilliant writer.
Had he not left us so soon (he died from a Heroin overdose in 1975), there's no telling what directions he'd be going in or what his observations would be. We won't know, but forty years ago at least we could guess.
