Terry Reid - More famous for what he didn't do than what he did.

As the legend goes - had Robert Plant said no to Jimmy Page's request to join The New Yardbirds (which became Led Zeppelin), fortunes might have changed dramatically for Terry Reid. But contractual obligations what they were, Reid turned down the offer and has achieved legend status based on what didn't transpire, as opposed to what did.

Terry Reid has always been regarded as one of the finest and most underrated (and virtually unknown) singers to come out of pop music in the last 40 years.

You can go crazy pondering all the "what if's" in music as well as life, but the fact of the matter is, Terry Reid is a great singer (still performing) who has recorded all too little during those formative years.

And so this session, which Reid did for the BBC Radio Program Top Gear (not to be confused with the current Top Gear, also on BBC) on March 2, 1969 is a rare glimpse into just how great a singer Terry Reid always was.

Tonights track is Writing On The Wall from that Top Gear session.

Enjoy and don't forget to send in the pennies (of nickels) (or dimes).
