Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) insisted Republicans would have to shut down the federal government because the American people demanded it.
During an interview on Fox News, host Maria Bartiromo asked Jordan if Republicans were ready to shut down the government to force President Joe Biden to take more decisive action against immigrants and migrants.
"So you're willing to take this to the mat and allow the government to shut down unless he has some new border legislation?" the Fox News host asked.
"I think we have to because I think that's what the American people demand," Jordan replied.
"I mean, right now, polling shows eight out of ten Americans know that this is a crisis on our southern border," he opined. "So we've got to deal with that."
"That's again why, why Speaker Johnson took the largest delegation ever to the border this past week. We saw firsthand how serious it was."
