Former President Trump's campaign released a statement on "Deranged Jack Smith's Filing With The Supreme Court," and it's a doozy. Trump doubled down on stupid over Smith's request for the Supreme Court to rule on whether the twice-impeached, numerously charged, 4 times indicted former President has immunity from federal prosecution. The Trump campaign accused Smith of launching a "Hail Mary" to keep Trump from retaking the White House in 2024.
I don't see how Trump will win this. If he does, that opens the floodgates for future Presidents and the current one to stay in power. Or, at least, be able to break laws with impunity. Smith requested an expedited response from the Court to keep the March trial on track.
"Crooked Joe Biden's henchman, Deranged Jack Smith is so obsessed with interfering in the 2024 Presidential Election with the goal of preventing President Trump from retaking the Oval Office, as the President is poised to do, that Smith is willing to try for a Hail Mary by racing to the Supreme Court and attempting to bypass the appellate process," the statement reads.
'"Deranged" may need to be reminded that the Supreme Court has not been kind to him, including by handing down a rare unanimous rebuke when the Court overturned him 8-0 in the McDonnell case," he continued. "As President Trump has said over and over again, this prosecution is completely motivated. It is an unprecedented attack against Crooked Joe Biden's Political Opponent -- Bannan Republic style!"
"There is absolutely no reason to rush this Witch Hunt to trial, except to injure President Trump and his 150 million, at least, supporters," Lumpy added. "President Trump will continue to fight for Justice, and oppose these authoritarian tactics."
It is signed, "Trump spokesperson," and I'm pretty sure Trump wrote the statement. It's obvious that Trump wants to stall the process down in court. That's been his motive operandi for his entire life to avoid being held accountable in court. And that's why Trump laughably added that there is "no rush" to bring his case to trial.
Also, Trump does not have 150 million supporters. He might have well said that he has eleven billion supporters. Trump garnered 74,223,369 in the 2020 election. He usually falsely rounds that off to 74 million, but now he's taking even more liberties with that number. His lie-packed statement will accomplish nothing.
