Steve Bannon seems a tad resentful that the obviously liberal, pro-voting and definitely non-MAGA Taylor Swift was named Time’s Person of the Year for 2023. Just because she has become a one-woman music, entertainment and financial force, how on earth did she beat out right-wing nut job, professional victim and likely-to-go bankrupt Mike Lindell?
“Taking Mike Lindell out of Walmart was a monumental piece of this history of this political movement,” Bannon began. He suggested it was akin to “another major political statement,” that Swift was named Time’s Person of the Year “because she's a powerful political force on their side ... like Mike Lindell is a political force on this side.”
Say, what?
Bannon claimed that because late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel makes jokes about Lindell, that makes him “a cultural icon.” That’s why “we’re all in for Mike Lindell,” Bannon continued.
In other words, Bannon thinks Lindell is the anti-Swift and that makes him a great guy. Bannon declared. “I like him, I admire him, he’s a friend, he’s a buddy, but that’s not the point.”
The point is, apparently, that America-hating Bannon wants MAGA world to rally around Lindell the way most of the country is saluting and loving on Swift.
Because otherwise his dream of destroying American democracy might be dashed! “This is symbolic, just like Trump’s trial in New York,” Bannon whined. “If they can show they can take and strip all of Trump's asset in a Moscow show trial, if they can show that they can do what Walmart and Bed Beth & Beyond and nobody and nothing could do, then they win.”
Make no mistake, as repulsive as Bannon is in every way, he’s a dangerous guy out to destroy American as we know it. But I seriously doubt that Mike Lindell will ever be the MAGA cultural icon that Taylor Swift is for the rest of us.
