Ah, yes, who can disagree with former President Donald Trump, who recalled 2020 when we had "the greatest economy in our history" as we tried to find enough groceries amid the empty shelves to make dinner? Grandma couldn't even eat from cat food cans because there was also a shortage of cat food. And there were miles-long car lines at the food banks.
The GDP fell by 8.9 percent in the second quarter of 2020, making it the most significant single-quarter contraction in over 70 years. Good times, eh? Obama gifted Trump with a healthy economy; Trump then turned it into an apocalyptic economy. Sure, the culprit was COVID-19, but Trump completely mishandled the pandemic.
And let's not forget the old toilet paper shortage. Trump's economy hit everything. You couldn't shit without thinking of that asshole. Refrigerated trucks had to double as morgues.
Look at this fool:
Trump: "Go back three years. We didn't have any of these problems."
As we all remember, 2020 was a tranquil year when things were going very smoothly! pic.twitter.com/t7MSbQHSRk— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) November 11, 2023
Xitter users jumped in:
Things were going so smoothly in 2020 we were literally hunting for toilet paper

Yes, we all look back fondly on the salad days of 2020.

This:
And, nurses were taping garbage bags together to use as PPE. It's like they've erased his mismanagement of the pandemic from their minds.

Go back three years, toward the end of the Trump administration when he completely mismanaged the COVID pandemic, and you'll remember there were food lines all over America. Long food lines. https://t.co/qwi1fBPtOD

2020 was so tranquil that thousands of Americans were dying daily, millions of people were out of work and to top it off we couldn't find toilet paper.🤷🏻♀️

Yes, who can ever forget the good old days of 1,000 Americans dying daily from COVID?

In October 2020, Trump almost died from Covid-19.https://t.co/E72TbzPv4h

Americans were so desperate that they would hoard large amounts of hand sanitizer and then sell it back to people looking for the product at the store. They did this because they didn't want to die. Everything about 2020 sucked.
It was the worst year in my life, and likely yours, too. Maybe it was a good year for Trump, though. I do remember him dancing at rallies while Americans were dying, so at least he was having a good time.
