Wisconsin Speaker Robin Vos had threatened to impeach Justice Janet Protasiewicz if she did not recuse herself from redistricting cases because she had offered her opinion about the state's gerrymandered map while campaigning.
However, to Vos's chagrin, the judicial ethics committee found no wrongdoing, despite numerous complaints. Vos then asked three conservative former Justices to justify his threat. They told him that there are no grounds for impeachment.
Defeated, Vos dropped his threat to impeach Protasiewicz if she did not recuse herself.
But that was not the end of Vos beclowning himself. Now, he has started to threaten impeachment if Protasiewicz doesn't rule the way he wants in the redistricting case. Not only is he trying to once again extort Protasiewicz, he is also threatening to take the case to the United States Supreme Court:
Vos has said lawmakers would not hesitate to take the redistricting case to the U.S. Supreme Court. The nation’s highest court tossed out the state Supreme Court's decision in 2021 to adopt a redistricting plan authored by Gov. Tony Evers.
“If they decide to inject their own political bias inside the process … we have the ability to go to the U.S. Supreme Court and we also have the ability to hold her accountable to the voters of Wisconsin,” Vos said.
If it wasn't such an egregious threat on Vos's part to make such a threat and to cross the line between equal branches of the government, Vos might have sounded like an mafia enforcer for the GQP syndicate. But when you take a look at the big picture, Vos sounds like the enraged squeaking of an impotent chipmunk.
I certainly hope that Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul has started an investigation into all of Vos's election interference. I'm sure Jack Smith would be glad to give him some pointers if he needs it.
