In an interview last night with Jim Acosta, Republican Vivek Ramaswamy came out with his most full-throated and clear support for Russia so far. He repeated his contention that current control of occupied areas of Ukraine, including the Donbas and Crimea should be ceded to Russia. And that Ukraine should never be allowed to join NATO. He's said that stuff many times before. But then he added this bit, and it makes for one of the most disgusting soundbites from any American politician in recent memory.
RAMASWAMY: "Our goal should not be for Putin to lose. Our goal should be for America to win. That’s what we have forgotten in this country, is that driving Russia into the ground is not a U.S. strategic goal. A U.S. strategic goal is to secure peace and prosperity for Americans.
Now, considering that Ramaswamy is spending upwards of $15mil of his own money, and is being aided and abetted by Fox News, with no hope of ever being the Republican nominee, one has to ask, 'To what purpose?' Does he so desperately want a cabinet position in a future Trump administration? Or is he simply a paid stooge of Vladimir Putin?
"What we have forgotten in this country, is that driving Russia into the ground is not a U.S. strategic goal." Ronald Reagan must be turning over in his grave.
