You can add Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn to the list of hypocritical Republicans who just demanded US Attorney David Weiss be appointed special counsel in the Hunter Biden probe that are now attacking him on social media and on Fox.

Here's Blackburn this Sunday on Maria Bartiromo's show on Fox, attacking Merrick Garland for heaven forbid doing exactly what Republicans have been demanding for months.

BLACKBURN: And I think everyone knows David Weiss is not a prosecutor, he's not a special counsel. He is a collaborator. And the sweetheart deal that he had cooked up for Hunter Biden, now they're going to give him a sweetheart deal with a special counsel and run out the clock.

So we, the American people can see through this and they know what is going on. And Merrick Garland, he owes the American people better than to do something like this.

Blackburn made similar remarks on the social media site formerly known as Twitter, and unfortunately for Blackburn, readers added some "context" to her BS there.

But Weiss’ appointment is exactly what she and other congressional Republicans requested. Special counsel is the same designation Garland gave Jack Smith, currently prosecuting former President Donald Trump.

Last September, a group of 31 Senate Republicans, including Blackburn, asked specifically for Weiss to be appointed to oversee the probe to “provide additional assurances to the American people that the Hunter Biden investigation is free from political influence.” Weiss had already led the investigation into his business dealings, which began under President Donald Trump.

Republicans on the House side sent a similar letter in April 2022, although they did not name Weiss specifically. Blackburn and two other Republican senators reiterated their request for a special counsel two months ago.

Now that they’ve gotten their wish, some are complaining.

They're all complaining, but they all also know no one on Fox "news" is ever going to tell their audience about the fact that they're all a bunch of lying, rage-filled, ridiculous hypocrites. If it weren't for Tommy Tuberville, Blackburn would probably have the honor of being the dumbest member of the United States Senate. What a sad time we're living in that either one of them has that designation in front of their name.
