Former Vice President Mike Pence is walking a fine line in his attempt to get the coveted keys to the White House. Pence would need the support of his boss's supporters, and that's not going to happen. They wanted him dead on January 6 for not shitting all over the Constitution, and it seems evident that they still wouldn't mind if he died a disturbing death.

CNN's Dana Bash quoted Trump on State of the Union to Pence when the twice-impeached former President said it would be "very dangerous" if he is charged and ends up facing jail time.

"Because we do have a tremendously passionate group of voters, much more passion than they had in 2020 and much more passion than they had in 2016," Trump added. "I think it would be very dangerous."

Bash asked Pence "if that kind of rhetoric" worries him.

"Well, it doesn't worry me because I have more confidence in the American people and in the people in our movement," he said.

"Look, it was one of the things that infuriated me on January 6 with what I saw, people ransacking the Capitol and engaging in violence against law enforcement officers," Pence continued. "I would say not just the majority, but virtually everyone in our movement or the kind of Americans who love this country are patriotic or law and order people who would never have done anything like that there or anywhere else."

"So I don't, no, I have more confidence in the American people than that," he said. "I hear my former running mate's frustration in his voice, but I'm sure the American people will respond in our movement in a way that will express, as they have every right to under the First Amendment, to express concerns that they have about what they perceive to be unequal treatment of the law."

After saying he's not concerned, Bash said, "That's pretty remarkable that you're not concerned about it, given the fact that they wanted to hang you on January 6."

Pence didn't like that.

"Well, Dana, wait a minute. Now, there -- wait a minute. I want to say to you," he nervously shot back. "There's -- there's been an effort to take those that perpetrated violence on January 6 and use a broad brush to describe everyone in our movement that way."

"And I'm just here to tell you, it's just -- it's not the case," he continued. The people in this movement, the people who rallied behind our cause in 2016 and 2020, are the most God-fearing, law-abiding, patriotic people in this country. I won't stand for those kind of generalizations because they have no basis in fact."

The voluminous crowd at the Capitol as it was being stormed didn't look patriotic to me. We all saw the number of people climbing the walls to gain entry while threatening elected officials as they huddled inside. Pence was one of those people. 1,000 people have been charged for the Capitol riot, and arrests are still being made.
