The idea that someone who worked for Donald Trump has turned against him and is now a confidential witness with the DOJ will drive Donald Trump nuts.

Is there a mole at Mar-A-Lago? If a report from the New York Times are right, there very well may be. The DOJ has issued a new wave of subpoenas in recent weeks regarding Trump's mishandling of classified documents and it is reportedly related to the "confidential cooperation of a witness who worked at Mar-a-Lago".

Wooo doggie, the idea that Donald Trump may have a "rat" working for him must be making Trump furious and paranoid. Perfect.

Here is what we know. DOJ prosecutors working on the classified documents case have obtained the "confidential cooperation of a person who has worked for [Trump] at Mar-a-Lago" while specifically looking into "whether Mr. Trump ordered boxes containing sensitive material moved out of a storage room there as the government sought to recover it last year."

They also put out a flurry of new subpoenas and have sought even more grand jury testimony in the recent weeks in an attempt to "develop a fuller picture of how the documents Mr. Trump took with him from the White House were stored, who had access to them, how the security camera system at Mar-a-Lago works and what Mr. Trump told aides and his lawyers about what material he had and where it was."

The goal: to find out if Donald Trump sought to hide documents after the subpoena issued in May of last year was issued.

Having a witness on the inside is a HUGE step in getting the answers to some, or all, of those questions. It has been reported that the witness has provided prosecutors with a picture of the storage room where the classified material had been held.

The subpoenas are wide ranging. Four went to Mar-a-Lago and one went to a person who had "visibility into Mr. Trump’s thinking when he first returned material to the National Archives", whatever that means. Additionally, more subpoenas have gone out to the Trump Organization "seeking additional surveillance footage from Mar-a-Lago, his residence and private club in Florida." In addition to seeking footage from Trump affiliated companies directly, the DOJ also subpoenaed that software company that handles all of the security footage. It will be interesting to see if there is a discrepancy in the footage that Trump provides versus the software company. Oh, and they also subpoenaed Matthew Calamari Sr., the head of security at the Trump Organization.

Another curious subpoena that NO ONE HAS HEARD ABOUT BEFORE went to the Trump Organization and seeks records related to Trump's dealings with the Saudi-backed professional golf venture, LIV Golf. It is unclear what they are looking for, but it is absolutely fascinating twist in an already sprawling investigation.

Bets on who the confidential informant could be? Melania? Concierge? A housekeeper? The possibilities are endless! And that must be keeping Donald up at night.
