Failed Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake came out with a bizarre excuse after she won a straw poll for the Republican vice presidential pick during the Conservative Action Political Conference (CPAC) this weekend. She can't do it because she's the Governor of Arizona. And according to her, that goes against the Constitution even though (checks notes) Katie Hobbs is the Governor of her state. She lost the race.

Incredibly, Lyin' Lake won among a field of 28 candidates, garnering 20 percent of the vote, beating Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. DeSantis received 14 percent of the vote, and Haley, who announced her bid for the White House last month, won a mere 10 percent, according to The Hill.

Lake's official campaign Twitter account responded to the CPAC straw poll results by saying that she could not serve in the role while also being Governor of Arizona, a race she lost to Hobbs.

During her speech at CPAC, Lake told a sir story. She made a wild-eyed claim, telling the crowd that "powerful people back east" sent someone to her house this week to try and bribe her with a job with a big salary if she would drop out of politics.

Trump won the straw poll, too. And conservatives want to see Lake as his vice president even though that Wish.com version of Leona Helmsley with filters thinks she's the Governor of Arizona. And even though Trump thinks he won an election that he lost.
