Earlier this month Craig escaped a man who punched and grabbed her by the neck by throwing a cup of hot coffee in his face. Ordinarily, Fox News would be cheering her, especially since the alleged assailant is Black.
But Craig is a Democrat. So, Fox found an excuse to vilify her. In this case, The Five show suggested Craig deserved to be attacked because she supports defunding the police.
“Now that the congresswoman has been victimized, now she feels your pain? Nonsense,” Fox News host Jeanine Pirro said on the segment. “And for those who say ‘at least now she’s on our side.’ Baloney.”
“You’ve done your damage, stick with it,” Pirro added. “Defund the police as it relates to you.”
Not surprisingly, Craig’s office soon received some disgusting and threatening phone calls that echoed Pirro’s rhetoric. More from CNN:
One of the callers said, “Finally this piece of sh*t gets accosted. … You deserved it.”
Another caller said, “I hope it happens to you again, because you deserve it. And don’t call the police for help.”
Fox apparently based its attack on oppo research from the National Republican Congressional Committee, CNN notes. In fact, Craig does not support defunding the police.
But why would a propaganda network that deliberately worked to kill democracy with MAGA lies bother to fact check in service to a Democrat’s truth and safety?
