Wisconsin State Representative Janel Brandtjen had been ostracized by her fellow Republican representatives because of her election denialism, wackadoodle conspiracy theories and because she dared to defy Speaker Robin Vos and actively supported his opponent in the 2022 elections.

Brandtjen thought she would show them by running for a recently vacant state senate seat. She had two opponents in the primary election, which was held on Tuesday.

To show that politics do make for strange bed fellows, her fellow Republicans were working hard to shoot down her campaign and keep her from advancing. However, Democrats, including the only Democratic candidate for that seat, were runnning hard to promote Brandtjen, believing that she would be the easiest one of the three to beat.

However, all of the Democrats' hard work wasn't enough to overcome the Trump kiss of death. Brandtjen lost on Tuesday by a two to one margin to Dan Knodl.

Knod will face the Democratic nominee, Jodi Habush Sinykin, in the general election on April 4th. The significance of this election is that it will decide whether the Republicans have gerrymandered enough to maintain a veto-proof majority in the state senate. It would also allow Republicans the authority to impeach and removed duly elected officials, including Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul.

And we all know how much regard Republicans have for the will of the people and honoring democracy.
