Herein begins the gaslighting.
Republican House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan claimed that the over 300 classified and sensitive documents Trump refused to turn over to the National Archives were not really classified at all.
Then he went on to rant about President Biden.
Gym Jordan joined Stuart Varney on Fox Business to discussed the new "House UnAmerican Activities"-type subcommittee being set up by MAGA to punish anyone in law enforcement that either voted for a Democrat or had issues with Trump's illegal behavior.
A reminder: Trump not only took classified documents to Mar A Lago, he lied about them to federal authorities, and continued to hide them after his attorneys said he'd returned them all. All of that is multiple federal crimes committed by a so-called former president.
The Fox Business host asked Jordan to give a description of what the subcommittee will do. Jordan claimed he had "dozens of FBI whistleblowers."
"Look at the double standard - look at the most recent one -- look how President Trump was treated with "so called" classified documents being at his residence as what we've been told versus the classified documents that were found at the Biden center," Jordan stuttered.
The documents at Mar-A-Lago were indeed secret, classified, and sensitive. Nothing "so-called" about them.
What a ridiculous analogy.
Trying to cover for Trump, who faces real criminal penalties for his purposeful and illegal actions of withholding documents after his lawyers signed documents saying all documents were returned, Jordan tried to equate the small number of documents that were found at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement (that were returned to the National Archives within hours of being discovered) to Trump's criminality.
As VOA writes, "The administration has also said that the records were turned over the same day they were discovered, without any intent to conceal. That's important because the Justice Department historically looks for willfulness, or an intent to mishandle government secrets, in deciding whether to bring criminal charges."
On the flip side, Trump's actions were insane throughout the ordeal -- he even claimed to have declassified everything with a wave of his hand.
