As we all know, Comrade Stupid has nominated Sam Clovis to be the Department of Agriculture’s chief scientist, despite that Clovis is not a scientist, and as far as we can tell all he knows about farming is that Old McDonald had one, and even then he is only professionally familiar with the quack-quack bit.
(We assume Clovis got the bid because he was so outstanding on the campaign, what with bringing in noted Coffee Boy George Papadopoulos, friend of Russia.)

Anyway, Clovis’ confirmation hearings are next week [November 9], and once again we learn that Karma is a bitch. For any number of reasons the Dims are going to be opposed, so the real entertainment value is going to be on Wingnuttia.
- We already know that the GOP doesn’t give a rat’s patootie about qualifications, especially scientific ones.
- Will they care that he is an incompetent manager who hired the Coffee Boy?
- Will they care that he is likely to be in the sites of Robert Mueller?
- Will Comrade Stupid want Clovis under oath being asked questions?

So, 500 Quatloos says that between now and next week’s hearings, Clovis is going to withdraw to spend some quality time with family in Central Agricultural Zone examining hectares of beets.
