GOP Is Trying To Bribe Sen. Murkowski By Letting Alaska Keep Obamacare
September 21, 2017

Lisa Murkowski is being wooed by Republicans to toss her vote toward Graham-Cassidy so they can go back to their districts and tell their constituents they voted to take away their health insurance.

But boy, howdy, the bribe is...special. Basically, they are proposing that Alaska and Hawaii keep their Obamacare, because they like it, while they repeal it for everyone else.

Here's the most recent draft of the bill, with sweeteners (bribes) for Murkowski:

  • Alaska (along with Hawaii) will continue to receive Obamacare’s premium tax credits while they are repealed for all other states. It appears this exemption will not affect Alaska receiving its state allotment under the new block grant in addition to the premium tax credits.
  • Delays implementation of the Medicaid per capita caps for Alaska and Hawaii for years in which the policy would reduce their funding below what they would have received in 2020 plus CPI-M [Consumer Price Index for Medical Care].
  • Provides for an increased federal Medicaid matching rate (FMAP) for both Alaska and Hawaii

Every single state should be asking for this. To be able to keep their Obamacare because they know -- they KNOW beyond every reasonable doubt -- that this bill is awful and would do grave harm should it pass.

By the way, at this time every major medical organization has come out against it, it will cause 32 million people to lose their insurance, and it would wreak havoc on the economy. But that's not stopping these fools from continuing to try.

Still, how cynical do you have to be to bribe a Senator to vote to take health care away from everyone else but keep it for her state? What the hell?

Here's some common sense for them:
