According to Rudy Guiliani, infidelity is as natural as breathing and is commonplace. Is he projecting his behavior? Donald Trump has replaced his birther meme with one suggesting unproven infidelity by Hillary.

Rudy Guiliani has made it clear: he is attacking Hillary for being insensitive and unkind to the women who cheated with Bill. The New York Times quotes him as saying on NBC's "Meet The Press," I'm not attacking the Clintons, I'm attacking Hillary." It's enough to make you shimmy and yell, "wooof!" A husband cheats with an outside woman and Rudy blames the wife for being unkind. There's more.

Hillary as the wife is also blamed by Rudy for not being prescient. In another interview Rudy offered his latest logic: "After being married to Bill Clinton for 20 years, if you didn’t know the moment Monica Lewinsky said Bill Clinton violated her, then you’re too stupid to be president.” Maybe that explains why Rudy's wife of only 16 years got the news from a live press conference he called to announce he was leaving her and turning to his paramour--a crushing humiliation that revealed Rudy's insipid cruelty.

How does Rudy reach these conclusions? Were they told to him by his three wives? Or is his campaign of sturm and drang against Hillary the result of the looking glass syndrome: a view of the world where impossible things are real if you say them and you only need to say them to make them real. While Rudy was having tea with the Red Queen, Donald Trump created a new parallel to the birther meme, having had so much success with it, he doubled down on the shiny object of a new meme without evidence, support, or fact, and one that has low appeal even in its own make-believe: the idea of infidelity committed by Hillary. He wrapped it in all the familiar bows and shrugs, teased out: "I think . . ." "who knows . . ."

We know for sure that Trump doesn't know! We know for sure that Trump has a public history of being unfaithful and is a serial adulterer. We know that Trump depends on nastiness, slander, denigration, humiliation, character assassination, slinging slime on his opponent. That means he has no issues on which he feels he can win, no policies that appeal to voters, and he is scared because his vacuity has been exposed and is being rejected by voters, who see his continued, ugly innuendoes as beneath the dignity of the office the Presidency and an embarrassment to the nation. He wants to lead by blame.

The election grows bizarre as Trump can find no positive path and turns to a favorite theme: sex--to divert attention from his illegal spending in Cuba, his concealed financial ties to foreign governments, his six business bankruptcies, thousands of lawsuits, hundreds of workers and small businesses not paid, a record of discrimination in the marketplace, and using offshore firms to supply his products, and illegally soliciting for his charity and paying no taxes while demanding others do so as he plans to give himself an even bigger tax break!

His strategy, ill-conceived, using speculation, is failing to resonate. As a voter told the Times reporter, “to dismiss the original immoral behavior as, ‘Well, everybody does it,’ but make an issue of her [Hillary's] reaction is a sign that we’ve lost our moral compass.”
