Last night, Bill O'Reilly asked Donald Trump to explain how his new "Law and Order" approach would work in tough cities like Chicago. Trump intimated that he would let the police go rogue, break heads and commit crimes to help ...stem the tide of violence.
Yep, that's what he means by getting tough.
I have to give Bill O'Reilly some credit because he tried to pin down Trump to get specific instead of making grand gestures.
So, specifically, specifically. How do you do it? How do you do it?” O’Reilly asked.“I know police in Chicago,” Trump replied. “If they were given the authority to do it, they would get it done.”“How? How?” O’Reilly pressed.
“You have unbelievable—how? By being very much tougher than they are right now,” Trump said. “They are right now not tough. I mean, I could tell you this very long and quite boring story but when I was in Chicago, I got to meet a couple of very top police. I said, ‘How do you stop this? How do you stop this? If you were put in charge,’ to a specific person, ‘Do you think you could stop it?’ He said, ‘Mr. Trump, I would be able to stop it in one week.’ And I believed him 100 percent.”
“You have to have a warrant to arrest people,” O’Reilly said. “You can’t beat them up.”
Trump replied that he didn’t ask for an exact plan because he’s “not the mayor of Chicago.”
As usual, whenever Trump explains something, you never know what he means, exactly. Except it will be swift and violent, and will get "results" that have no consequences for a rural white Republican voter who has never had his Constitutional rights threatened by the Police because White privilege.
Trump's leadership skills seem to involve acting like an Ostrich and sticking his head in the sand to anyone's rights, all the while yelling "terrific!"
When the topic turned towards supporting the police and changing policies that would help the Men in Blue, Trump responded that he'd be the best cheerleader, ever!
Trump said, "All I can do from the top, I would be very, very strong in terms of being a cheerleader for the police."
That's a real leader, ladies and gentlemen!
But for a Republican voter, that kind of empty baloney, coming from a violent White strongman? Is exactly what they're looking for.
