Paul Manafort, one of Trump's trusted advisors, tried to defend Donald for his irrational attacks on Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren during his stop on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace this morning.
Wallace made the point that if Trump is trying to corral women voters into his corner, maybe he shouldn't be attacking them as viciously as he has so far.
Wallace said, "if you're trying to win over women, and you do have a problem with women according to the polls, do you really want to take on a fight with two of them, Clinton and Warren?"
Donald Trump opened up his attacks on HRC this weekend by ridiculously saying it was her who is the destroyer of women.
“Hillary was an enabler and she treated these women horribly. Just remember this. And some of those women were destroyed not by him, but by the way that Hillary Clinton treated them after everything went down..”
If anything, Hillary was a victim too, but when Wallace asked Manafort to explain Trump's line of attack, Paul ignored the question.
Wallace asked, "First of all, what specifically did Hillary Clinton do to those women?"
Manafort ducked it by saying Trump will not allow Hillary to play the women's card against him since he's hired so many women for his businesses.
Wallace didn't flinch and pushed him to respond, "Respectfully, I asked you, what did -- what did Hillary Clinton do to those women? He says she destroyed their lives. How?"
Manafort refused to comment on Trump's despicable words and instead passed the buck, "I will let him speak to it. The point is that, you know, the history is clear, she's an enabler in the past, I will let him speak to those issues."
How so, Paul? How so, Trump?
Chris then refused to change topics and brought up Trump's attack's on the progressive stalwart, Warren.
WALLACE: Trump also this week got into a nasty Twitter war with Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Now, to be fair, she started it and here's one of her Tweets. “Donald Trump has built his campaign on racism, sexism, and xenophobia.” But Trump fired back “I hope corrupt Hillary Clinton chooses goofy Elizabeth Warren as her running mate. I will defeat them both.”
I guess the question is Paul, if you're trying to win over women, and you do have a problem with women according to the polls, do you really want to take on a fight with two of them, Clinton and Warren?
Manafort almost sounded like he was saying that HRC and Warren were using "sex" against Trump, but then turned into a weird "they're being hypocrites l" argument.
MANAFORT: He's taking on a fight with two politicians who are using political terms and being hypocrites about it. That's what he's taking a fight on. As far as the women's issue is concerned, that's exactly the point he's making. He's not going to allow Hillary Clinton or Elizabeth Warren to hide behind their sex to make cases that are just hypocritical.
Saying a person is a hypocrite, does not make them one. Wallace pushed on.
WALLACE: And how is Elizabeth Warren being hypocritical? She wasn't involved in the Clinton affairs?
MANAFORT: Well.... the statements that she was making there were totally out of bounds and he gave it back to her. If she can't take it, that's her problem.
Really? Racism, sexism, and xenophobia is his platform, so why are these considered "political terms" instead of facts, Paul?
And by the way, Warren completely destroyed Trump on Twitter. Here's how it unfolded.
This will be a big playbook for Trump if he thinks it is helping him, but he's had many affairs himself and he admitted it would be fair game to bring them up on the campaign.
“You’ve gone after former president Bill Clinton for his infidelity,” a reporter asked during a press conference in Lincoln, Nebraska. “Are your own personal indiscretions fair game in this campaign?”
Yes, they would be,” Trump said.
