Another day, another accidental shooting.
This time a mother almost killed her two year old by dropping her purse to the floor that had a gun in it. The gun fired, richocheted and grazed the child's face.
A mother went to a vending machine, she dropped her purse and the gun inside her bag went off. The bullet ricocheted off of the vending machine and grazed her child on the face.
“Charges are not pending, it’s an accidental discharge,” said Officer Colendula Green with the Jackson Police Department. That two-year-old is okay.
While Mississippi has an open-carry policy, weapons are prohibited on Merit Health campuses.

And the hospital said that guns are strictly prohibited on their premises.
Weapons are prohibited on the campus of all Merit Health facilities to protect the safety of our patients, visitors, physicians and employees. This morning, an isolated incident involving the accidental discharge of a visitor’s weapon occurred on our campus. It was addressed quickly, preventing serious harm to the patient and risk to others in the hospital. Because this is an active police investigation, further questions should be directed to the Jackson Police Department.
Why does a woman in MS need to carry a gun with her while she's in the frakking hospital? I guess she felt those rules were undermining her second amendment rights or something.
This has become an everyday occurrence and it's really troubling.
