NV Republican Assemblywoman and gun-obsessed pin up girl, Michele Fiore has outdone herself this time. If you thought the insanity of her claim that cancer is merely a fungus was too nutty to fathom, her current definition of the outdoor pastime of camping now includes armed insurrection.
The Federal Government had this all wrong, according to Fiore. She sat down with a Las Vegas Sun reporter, Chris Kudialis. I must admit, he kept a straight face throughout the interview as the assertions became increasingly more ludicrous. Her gun-toting, tough gal bravado and anger at the feds was as fervent as when she defended Cliven Bundy's operation to Chris Hayes.
FIORE: If government is going to point a gun at me Chris, I'm going to point a gun right back. If you're gonna shoot me, I'm gonna shoot back, ain't gonna to shoot first though. But I ain't gonna sit there and let you just shoot me.
Kudialis wanted to know to what extent she'd go to defend people who were taking over a wildlife area, and pointing guns at federal officials. She corrects him, not only about calling the episode an 'occupation,' but also questions the validity of the federal ownership of the refuge. It seemed like the interviewer thought she'd have a reasonable explanation for how to deal with people simply occupying government buildings and/or property. First she corrected him.
FIORE: So, they didn't take over the refuge, they were camping there.
KUDIALIS: Occupying it?
FIORE: Like, like President Obama's occupying our White House? Same thing?
KUDIALIS: If people were camping at the White House, or camping at the Capitol building, that would be okay?
She joked that the gates keep people out, and people sleep in the park across the street from the White House and they don't get arrested or shot, like poor LaVoy Finicum. Fiore believes the dead 'camper' was allegedly not reaching for his gun when he was gunned down by federal agents.
The NV Republican 'needs to see the paperwork' where the federal government purchased the refuge, as it was once privately held land. That's the 'real question.' Besides, how do we protest in America if we can't camp out on abandoned property?
FIORE: How do we do a peaceful protest, a peaceful assemble (sic) without getting shot?
Michele equates this Oregon episode to the federal government's mishandling of Waco and Ruby Ridge. She claims that those too happened on private property and were totally unjustified, resulting in needless tragedy. Fiore reiterated her advocacy for the whole Bunkerville debacle, another example of her squatter buddies costing Americans millions of dollars to stop lawbreakers.
Fiore is running against Democrat Jesse Sbaih this Fall for Nevada's 3rd Congressional District. Jesse is an Arab-American immigrant, who will likely receive plenty of right wing hate from Fiore and her sycophants.
Sbaih called the occupiers 'domestic terrorists.' When she was informed of this by the reporter, she said this is the first she's heard of him. Obviously upset by his name-calling, Fiore said that 'obviously he doesn't know his ass from his elbow.' He should have gone to Burns, Oregon, like she did, before he calls people names. She did the legwork, so only she knows what really happened, the facts be damned! This could get pretty interesting once she launches a racially inspired campaign against Sbaih.
This state doesn't need a representative who makes Michele Bachmann seem sane. I hope Nevadans who value reason and logic get out and stop Fiore from winning this November.
