The Nightly Show's Larry Wilmore let the talking heads over at Fox and the rest of our corporate media have it for their ridiculous attacks on President Obama heaven forbid using the n-word to discuss the topic of racism.
Wilmore started things off by telling his audience about President Obama's podcast with WTF's Marc Maron, and imploring them to please not Google the keywords President Obama and n**ger to find the interview on line, Wilmore just chose to play the portion of the interview that has most of the media worked into a frenzy this week.
WILMORE: You know, I'm not mad at this really. I mean, the President of the United States just said nigger to beautifully illustrate the point that it takes more than cosmetic changes to fix this systemic problem that we have with race in this country. It's all context, right?
Obama usually doesn't keep it 100, but he sometimes leaks at 100. So how did the media react?
After showing some of the media warning about President Obama's harsh language, and Harold Ford Jr. on Morning Joe, who is the last person anyone should be hearing from to give their opinion on how President Obama should or should not act, saying that's not the word he would have used to make the point President Obama was trying to make, Wilmore had this question for Ford.
WILMORE: Why? You're allowed to use the word. Now thanks to H.R. 18852, The We Can Say It Act of 1968, black people and only black people can say nigger as much as we want, do you hear me Tom Hanks cray son? Only we can say it. Alright? Only us.
Okay, but my favorite is how the press classifies the n-word.
Following some footage of Fox's Bill Hemer's ridiculous comments claiming President Obama's comments were "electric" Wilmore moved onto Fox's Deneen Borelli, and her calling President Obama the "first president of rap."
WILMORE: So you thought rappers started the n-word? Really? I mean, you honestly believe Obama's the first president to use the n-word? Okay, okay. I mean, I feel like that word was in the presidential lexicon long before the N.W.A. made acronyms dangerous.
I mean, you think Thomas Jefferson was all, look, I'll own slaves, but I would really never use the n-word. I'm not a monster. Or if you prefer, President Nixon. I tell you what, let's let him speak for himself.
After playing tape of Nixon among a few others...
WILMORE: So presidents using the n-word, kind of an American tradition. I mean sure, he might be the first president to ever say nigger without expecting someone to immediately bring him a lemonade. That would be the difference.
And last but not least, we had the idiots on Fox & Friends asking if President Obama might use the n-word during a State of the Union address.
WILMORE: You think Obama is now going to say the n-word during the State of the Union? I mean, you think like when we say the n-word we suddenly can't stop, like we've got nigger hiccups or something? I mean, I don't understand. We just can't control what's coming out of our mouths? Is this honestly what she thinks the State of the Union will sound like?
Larry wrapped things up with a bit of creative video editing and what the talking heads over at Fox like Elisabeth Hasselbeck would like to believe we'll hear from President Obama the next time he addresses the nation in front of Congress.
