In Rick Santorum's twisted worldview, you cannot be pro-immigration while being pro-American worker. On Chuck Todd's Meet The Press, the man who redefined his own name by taunting the LGBT community decided to adopt a position that Ann Coulter rrecently espoused on Hannity's show. He purports to believe that Democrats only support comprehensive immigration reform (CIR) because it's politically expedient.
He claims that the income inequality issue is one caused by this administration. But Santorum omits the fact that wages have been most stagnant for workers and best for CEOs during the most recent Republican Administrations.
SANTORUM: I'm just worried about doing what's best for the American worker, the wealth gap has risen...the bottom line is that these liberal policies end up helping those who have resources. If you're an investor, if you're an owner, you've done very well under this administration.
If you're a worker, you've seen wages flat-line. So what does this president want to do, and Bernie Sanders? They want to bring in more people into this country that are primarily unskilled and have them compete so we can keep those wages down. And for one reason: the Democrats want to do that:because they believe it's politically good for them and they can win elections.
Todd incredulously asked him if he really thought that more votes was the only motive for Democratic CIR support. The sexual neologism/GOP Presidential Candidate replied:
"For decades, Democrats looked at the interests of the American workers until it became important for them to be on this other side because of the politics of it. No one is standing for American workers, unfortunately, in either party. Big business wants cheap labor costs, Hillary Clinton wants more votes."
Rick himself supported more measures to keep the American worker's wages stagnant and increase the number of hours they have to work just to survive. This ruse that he's for the American worker can easily be discredited by looking at his positions on labor.
He supports: getting rid of long-term unemployment benefits, a national 'right to work (for less)' bill, and offshoring jobs if manufacturing regulations aren't repealed. He voted to keep the minimum wage as low as possible, he thinks the federal government kills jobs and he thinks that public sector unions are bankrupting America, just like Governor Walker.
He's as delusional as the rest of the GOP clown bus. Blaming Senator Sanders for income inequality is like blaming gays for 9-11; simply idiotic.
