Stupid is what stupid does. In an effort for Republicans to try and disrupt US negotiations with Iran, Speaker John Boehner broke protocol by not informing the White House and invited Israel's Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu to speak in front of Congress about the issue. Even Chris Wallace had reservations about his actions.
Well, the American people have spoken and it's another kick in the nuts for the GOP:
According to a newly-released CNN/ORC poll, a majority of Americans oppose House SpeakerJohn Boehner‘s (R-OH) invitation to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress.
The CNN/ORC poll shows that 63 percent of Americans side with President Obama, and believe that Boehner should not have invited Netanyahu without first informing the president. Only 33 percent said it was a good move. Republicans are also split on the issue, with 52 percent approving of the invitation.
That is a devastating poll result not only because only 33% of the country side with Boehner, but a whopping 48% of Republicans do not think it's a good move.
Usually Congress would get behind an effort to negotiate with another nation over difference instead of torpedoing negotiations. You'd think with their new majority in Congress the GOP would like to do something other than poking a stick into the eye of the president. I'm just saying.
