On the show that follows Fox and Friends, America's Newsroom, Martha MacCallum interviewed Niger Innis, one of the few Black Teabaggers that exist and Richard Fowler, a progressive radio host who appears on The Young Turks network, about their thoughts of the upcoming YouTube appearance of President Obama. MacCallum's complaint is that these YouTube stars are garnering more respect and support than the Israeli PM, whom Speaker Boehner invited without going through the State Department.
President Obama is meeting with these extremely popular YouTube stars for a Q & A on topics that are relevant to young people. Conservatives are not terribly fond of the more tech savvy, progressive younger generation, so naturally their outrage is predictable.
Fowler praised the president for his appeal to the public and staying in touch with young Americans, many of whom did not vote in the midterms, much to their own detriment.
MacCallum is incensed that the president has precious little time and devoted A WHOLE HOUR to these three social media stars and can't spare a moment for Bibi, the de facto leader of the USA, according to Fox News and the GOP.
Niger Innis, a failed candidate for Nevada's 4th District, is taking the low, teaparty-paved road, first panning the president's Between Two Ferns appearance:
This is more a reflection that this president is the first entertainment-created president. We've had entertaining presidents, Ronald Reagan was entertaining, Bill Clinton was entertaining. This is the first president that was created largely by a good speech that he gave and an entertaining mythology that was created by his candidacy and what he'd do as President of the United States.
Richard Fowler said that MacCallum and Niger were
mixing apples with oranges. The president's job is to communicate with ALL AMERICANS and going on YouTube is a great way to do it.
The right wing is butthurt at the president's refusal to meet with Netanyahu, who was invited through unorthodox channels by a disrespectful Republican Party. The whole ordeal is entertaining, to say the least. The Speaker of the House does not conduct foreign policy and President Obama is absolutely correct in dishonoring an invitation his State Department did not initiate. Deal with it, GOP-TV!
