Now that Michele Bachmann is leaving the House, it seems Nevada is longing for a shot at having the nation's craziest Michele. Nevada Republican Majority Leader, Michele Fiore, is likening herself to women who are unable to make their own reproductive choices. This is preposterous because she is a woman who faces well-deserved scrutiny over substantial tax liens. Fiore believes she is persecuted by a contrived "GOP War on Women" when it comes to the fight to remove her chair as Majority Leader. In Nevada, this apparently is not a disqualifier, because she has retained her position.
The sound clip above shows Michele in her full glory bullying people who are picketing for decent living wages. A few gems from the encounter:
I would hire thugs to throw your asses right off my property... When in Roman do as the Romans do. (the woman who was leading the protest said, 'You have advocated brutal violence for people who are fighting for their rights?') We're not allowed to (hire people with misdemeanors like civil disobedience) hire these people, it's in the NRS Statutes, sweetheart...I'm from Brooklyn, and your behavior (yes, civil disobedience) will get you a BULLET IN YOUR HEAD.
Kyle Roerink from the Las Vegas Sun reports: The latest developments started Wednesday, when a news report said Assembly Majority Leader Michele Fiore had been ousted as chairwoman of the chamber's taxation committee, prompting Fiore to accuse leadership of waging a "war on women." However, it appears the report came premature of a formal decision and that Fiore will remain the head of the committee. Assemblyman John Ellison told the Las Vegas Sun that Fiore sent an email to the the 25-member Assembly Republican Caucus this afternoon that said she was still leading taxation.
This morning, Assembly Speaker designate John Hambrick declined to comment about Fiore, saying he was meeting with her to discuss the matter. Hambrick has not returned calls to the Sun this afternoon, but the Fiore email signals that Hambrick still wants her as the Majority Leader and leader of the taxation committee.
The hoopla over Fiore’s spot in the committee follows the uncovering of more than $1 million in tax liens against Fiore. Liens dating back to 2003 show that she has unpaid payroll taxes from her home health care businesses, Always There Personal Care of Nevada and Always There 4 You.
Fiore invokes the pilloried idea of the War on Women when clearly it's not a war on women, it's a war on major tax cheats. Then again, she was a huge fan of Cliven Bundy, so nobody is surprised she's quite adept at playing the victim of government overreach.
