18-Year Old Shot Dead By Police In Berkeley, MO
December 23, 2014

There's not much in the way of details yet, but there is a lot of anger and grief out there tonight over this shooting.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

A teenager was fatally shot late Tuesday at a Mobil gas station on North Hanley Road here.

The victim was identified as Antonio Martin, 18, by his mother, Toni Martin.

Toni Martin and others at the scene said Antonio was shot by a police officer.

The body remained on the parking lot just in front of the Mobil gas station at 6800 North Hanley Road at about 1 a.m. Berkeley police cars were on either side.

Crime scene tape ringed the gas station, which appeared to have security cameras that are trained on the parking lot. The scene is southeast of the intersection of Interstates 170 and 270.

Several officers from the St. Louis County and Woodson Terrace departments were also at the scene. No authorities have commented on the shooting so far.

Witnesses said he was breathing for at least 30 minutes after the shooting, but an ambulance was never called. There are also reports of a gun at the scene, but it's not clear who the gun belongs to.

Update: Lots of conflicts in accounts. Here's a tweet from someone who said he was with him. Update #2: That was evidently a hoax.

But other accounts say his girlfriend and he were walking together.
