Former football head coach and now-NBC analyst Tony Dungy told the Tampa Bay Tribune that he wouldn't have picked Michael Sam, who's the first openly gay college player to be drafted, because of all the media scrutiny and the homophobes in football teams locker rooms.

“I wouldn’t have taken him,’’ said former Bucs and Colts coach Tony Dungy, now an analyst for NBC. “Not because I don’t believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn’t want to deal with all of it.

“It’s not going to be totally smooth … things will happen.’’ The Rams say they are ready for the scrutiny and the dynamics.

“There’s a 90-man roster right now,’’ said St. Louis wide receiver T.J. Moe, who played with Sam at Missouri. “It doesn’t go 89, and then Michael Sam’s over there — this is the gay team, this is the straight team. Michael Sam is on this team and he’s treated just like anyone else.’’
Not every player is as enlightened as Moe ... and Sam knows it.

And as usual Rush Limbaugh seized on those statements to do his usual attacks on liberals, the media and the gay Michael Sam by refusing to call the St. Louis Rams a football team, a team he tried to buy and instead labeled it a "social experiment," for drafting Michael Sam.

Limbaugh: NBC analyst Tony Dungy is making headlines after reportedly saying that he would not have drafter Michael Sam because he's gay. "I just wouldn't want to deal with all of it." meaning, the Rams are a football team this season, they are a "social experiment" and that's what he means ..well...I don't want o put words in his mouth, it's just going to be constant, the media presence is going to be there no mater what decision the coaching staff makes about Sam. Whether he plays or not, whether he's cut or not, it's all going to be held up through the prism of "is it because he's gay?'

The bigoted Limbaugh goes on to list all the angles in his distorted brain that the media will use during the "Summer of Sam" story to paint them as gay loving liberals. He should know that many, many, many NFL players are devoutly religious including Tony Dungy, who are part of the sports media so I doubt they'd take kindly that he's calling them the liberal elites.

And then he veered off into his disdain for NFL hiring black coaches, but to his fractured intellect most of them got fired and the media didn't care anymore since they had at least been hired.

Since the Rooney Rule was established in 2003, it immediately had an impact when two African American coaches won Super Bowls, Tony Dungy (2006) and Mike Tomlin (2007) respectively, and others are thriving to this day.

Limbaugh: If he gets cut, they better have a lot of tape, he better play in all four preseason games. They better have the evidence that he's cut because he just can't make it, if that's the case.

Rush Limbaugh conveniently forgets a player that he loved who also caused quite a media stir just recently and his name was Tebow. What did RushBo have to say about his favorite Christianist QB when he was in Denver and getting a lot of media attention?

So what gives? Why does even Tebow's own coaching staff and management offer so little public support" for the guy? Well, you and I all know the answer, here. "Jake Plummer, the latest to take pot shots at [Tebow], might have been speaking for anti-Tebowites everywhere when he said in an interview on a Phoenix radio station that he would like Tebow more if he would 'shut up' about his faith in Jesus Christ." Just shut up about that and it's okay, Tim! "And with that little comment, the cat, as they say, was out of the bag. Plummer said what the commentators wouldn't say. Their dislike for Tim Tebow is not, as they would have us believe, about his throwing motion or his completion percentage; it's all about his open professions of faith and his goody-two shoes image. When it comes right down to it, [American culture today doesn't] want heroes who are truly good."

Tebow was a terrible quarter back, but a fan favorite and a religious icon, so it's all a conspiracy that he failed. After Denver quickly dumped him on the NY Jets, they were held hostage by the media too, but again he was so bad that they couldn't play him. That media circus didn't bother Limbaugh at all and instead he reveled in it. So why is he so aghast at a media driven sports story about Michael Sam?

Oh, right. It's about teh gay...
