"Before Jack Abramoff scandals became fashionable, they used to say that Roy Blunt was “sleeping” with the tobacco lobby. Literally. This came after Blunt had tried to insert a provision aiding Phillip Morris into the 2003 Homeland Security Bill. In the days following, the Washington Post wrote that Blunt had “a close personal relationship with a (woman) lobbyist for the firm.” Of course, his office denied the rumor.

Then in September 2003 came the headline: “Rep. Blunt Plans to Wed Tobacco Lobbyist.” As they say, love is blind....read on"
