On Friday night during a demonstration by Occupy DC four people were hit by one vehicle, a silver Lexus, in two separate incidences and the driver was let go by police.
The first victim was Georgia Pearce, the woman featured in the video above. A minute or so later and a block away the same driver hit a family attending the protest, including a pregnant woman and a 13-year-old boy.
The police let the driver go yet cited the family for obstructing traffic. This resulted in Occupy DC members getting arrested for reacting to the injustice in the heat of the moment (which I captured on film).
On Saturday night at a DC police station press conference it was made clear that the police had yet to investigate the ordeal and they were unaware of a second incident with the same driver. Georgia told me she has not been interviewed by police and more importantly not cited for obstructing traffic as the other victims had been.
Georgia is clearly sedated in the video due to the pain of her head injury. I'm shocked she was able to make it out to McPherson Park yesterday where I interviewed her.
I'm told Occupy DC is planning a press conference today at noon at the convention center - the scene of the crime. I'll be on a plane back to LA...where even though the car is king - you still can't mow down protesters in front of cameras and a hundred eye witnesses without going to jail.
