This Week with Christiane Amanpour marks the passings of singer/songwriter Teena Marie, economist Alfred E Kahn, Rose the Riveter inspiration Geraldine Hoff Doyle and jazz pianist Billy Taylor. In addition, the Pentagon released the names of three Marines killed in Afghanistan.

According to iCasualties, the total number of allied service members killed in Iraq is now 4,748; in Afghanistan, 2,284, of which 154 are Canadian. During this same period, Iraq Body Count lists 51 Iraqi civilians killed. For the month of December, 215 civilians were killed. For the entire year, 4,022 civilians were killed.
And since we've gone into a new year, here's a list of notable lives lost for 2010.
