Changes - David Bowie
It's been a week of big changes for Crooks and Liars. We said good-bye to our Managing Editor Tina Dupuy, who has moved on to new challenges that will hopefully bring her on your computer and/or television screens in the near future. Dave Neiwert will be resuming Managing Editor duties starting tomorrow. And our Labor blogger, Kenneth Quinnell, has opted to join Darcy Burner's campaign as her Communications Director. We wish both Tina and Kenneth the best of luck in their new ventures.
There are big changes coming for the country as well. Now that the Supreme Court has upheld the ACA and the House has gone after Eric Holder, there's another battle looming over the horizon: the budget. For me, and I suspect most liberals, this is a fundamentally moral argument. What kind of country do we want to be? Do we want to keep dismissing the needs of 90 percent of the population in order to cater to the top 10 percent? Do we want to continue to be short-sighted about our future needs and our infrastructure? Do we want to keep dragging down education and know that we're releasing generations unable to think critically?
WH Chief of Staff Jack Lew will be offering the Democratic side of things on three shows, and for the Republican side, we've got Paul Ryan, John Boehner, Bobby Jindal and Mitch McConnell. Listen carefully to see if how many terrifying lies the conservatives will throw out, to make damn sure no one really understands the impact of the ACA on most Americans.
