US Army SSG Dain T Venne, 29, Port Henry, NY
US Army SPC Ryan P Jayne, 22, Campbell, NY
US Army SPC Brett E Gornewicz, 27, Alden, NY
US Army PFC Brandon L Buttry, 19, Shenandoah, IA

According to iCasualties, the total number of allied service members killed in Afghanistan is now 3,225.

In addition, the following notable names passed away this weekend:

Politician Samuel S Freedman, sportscaster Jim Durham, jazz musician Ted Curson, Canadian politician Errol Black, composer Elliott Carter, Air Force officer Charles V Bush, Massachusetts state politician Larry Alexander, author Kevin O'Donnell, Jr, baseball Hall of Famer Lee MacPhail, R&B singer Major Harris, and former congressman Joseph D Early.
