Remember when Fox News disapproved of boycotts? That was so Chick-Fil-A ago ago! Now, an organization dedicated to fear mongering activating against the threat of radical Islam is calling for a boycott of the hotel chain that has agreed to house Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad when he comes to New York to speak at the United Nations. Fox & Friends this morning didn’t just offer up a friendly platform for the boycott but actively helped to publicize it.
Co-host Ainsley Earhardt, opened the discussion by mentioning the “posh” hotel Ahmadinejad will stay at, then asked, “Should we allow the man who denies the Holocaust and says 9/11 was an inside job such extravagant accommodations?”
To “answer” the question, she brought on “national security analyst for RadicalIslam.org,” Ryan Mauro. As you might guess about a guy who works for an organization with that name, Mauro didn’t just have an opinion but an agenda.
“What do you think about this?” Earhardt asked, as if she didn’t already know the answer.
Sure enough, Mauro thought it “outrageous that we would even allow this guy into the country.” In concert with Mauro, a Fox News chyron appeared on the screen blaring: THE THREAT OF IRAN: WHY IS AHMADINEJAD ALLOWED IN THE U.S.?
Mauro gave his predictable run-down of why the U.S. should bar Ahmadinejad from the country and, therefore, the United Nations. There was not a single question from any of the three hosts about how preventing Ahmadinejad from speaking at the U.N. might affect an already inflamed Middle East. Instead, co-host Clayton Morris just happened to ask, “And, furthermore, the hotels. Where do you stay when you’re this guy? I mean, what hotel opens up their door and says, ‘Come on. Why don’t you stay in our hotel? You can take up the whole third floor.’ What hotel is planning to keep him here in the United States and will they – I don’t know – bow under pressure and not allow him to stay there?”
Funny he should mention it! It just so happens that Mauro is calling for a boycott! After naming the hotel that is housing him, Mauro added, “There’s something that you can all do about it over at (his website).”
Earhardt then "wondered," “What other hotels” are owned by the same company?
And guess what? According to Mauro, “There’s a whole chain of them around the country. So this is something that Americans across the country can get involved in.”
