Spinal Tap are releasing a new 'comeback' album, titled Back from the Dead. You can preview the title track in all its glory (and believe me, there's a lot of glory) here.
Bassist Derek Smalls, the diplomatic mediator between egomaniacs David St. Hubbins and Nigel Tufnel, explained the reason for their new album to Billboard:
"it was possible to put out a record that was louder than any we've ever had before, and that was a selling point right there. We could have the loudest Spinal Tap record there's ever been, and we thought, 'Well, yeah, why not?'"
Does louder than any Tap album before mean that it goes to 12?
Back From the Dead features many songs that are alluded to in the film This is Spinal Tap that you don't actually get to hear, like 'Saucy Jack' from David St. Hubbins' unfinished musical about Jack the Ripper, and updated new studio recordings of Tap classics like 'Hell Hole' and 'Big Bottom'.
The album comes out June 16th, and probably doesn't have a cover as risque as the original for Smell the Glove.
