Yes, it was in Florida. And yes, it was a NASCAR race. That combination alone might cause one to expect a classy reaction like this to the appearance of Michelle Obama and Jill Biden at the start of the race. But you'd think they might at least have been respectful of them for the benefit of their cause.

According to Mediaite, when the first lady was introduced, "loud booing could be heard above the cheers." The booing was not audible in the television broadcast, but was picked up by ESPN microphones.
The first lady and Mrs. Biden were at the event in support of Joining Forces, the initiative the women lead in support of military families. In fact, NBC Miami reported that a group of military families, including an Iraq war veteran, Sgt. Andrew Barry, and a group of children of military families were with Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Biden when they were booed.
It's not the first time Michelle Obama has been received less than cordially and I'm sure it won't be the last. She's a class act and lets it roll off her without so much as a blink. But Florida NASCAR fans? They look like the petty, nasty people who pay lip service to "supporting the troops" but have no problem making them feel unwelcome in order to express their nasty, tiny-minded agendas.
So yeah, just keep it classy, NASCAR fans. Don't worry about the rest of us who probably won't be tuning in anytime soon to support your petty ways. You go right ahead and behave like the cretins you are. Just don't expect me to listen to you wax on about how you're doing it all "for the children" after you gave the children of those military families a message they didn't deserve to hear.
