[media id=7597] Conservative apologists will lie about almost anything to make their own talking points try to make sense. Here's a great example of this: Earlier this week Bill O'Reilly had on Angela McGlowan, a black conservative, to discuss Jackie Mason's joke calling Obama a "schvartzer." TMZ had caught up with Mason on the street and he started cursing them out as he told them that he's said worse things about other minorities. I think TMZ was out of line on this one (hounding an old man) and I bet most of you didn't even know about it until I posted on this. (That's a guess) I think comedians should basically say whatever the heck they want, if you don't like their humor, it will play out in the pocketbook. If Mason called Italians "WOPs" in a show that I attended it wouldn't bother me. But in McGlowan's attempt to attack the left and the PC police, she had the nerve to say that Schvartzer isn't a derogatory word used to describe blacks and she's not offended by it. I asked at least ten of my Jewish friends about this and while only one said it was mildly derogatory, all the rest said it was a slur. (FWIW, Bernie Goldberg came on O'Reilly's show last night to similarly assure the audience that it's not a slur.) She's the only African American I know who holds this view.
McGlowan: How do I see it Bill, I see an attack from the left on anybody. Look, we had Imus, we had the NAACP hearing the n-word. We had the situation with the NY Post and the chimp cartoon. Schvartz is a German word for Black. I don't consider what Jackie Mason used degrading to black people. I don't, I know some people do. I don't...
She also made the case that liberals were attacking Mason, which is a lie, because nobody did. And she defended The NY Post "chimp" cartoon even after Rupert Murdoch apologized for it, and she defended Imus'(get well from cancer) remark about the Rutgers ladies basketball team that got him fired. Here's a little background on McGlowan's hackery:
Bamboozled: How Americans are being Exploited by the Lies of the Liberal Agenda Hard-hitting and chock-full of original interviews with some of America's biggest political players and insiders, Angela McGlowan exposes liberals' 50 year SCHEME to bamboozle the poor and minorities into supporting a party that sells them out. McGlowan, a Democrat-turned-Republican, reveals how the GOP better represents the values and interests of women, Latinos, and blacks.
Sure thing. The GOP is such a better place for all people. As an observation (since I watch a lot of political TV), it looks like the entire 1-2% of African Americans who didn't vote for Obama are now employed as conservative pundits on TV. The networks make it seem like the entire black community is evenly split over their support for President Obama on cable news, which isn't in the realm of reality.
