Chris Wallace ended this interview with Mark Kelly by asking him if he had anything to say to NRA head Wayne LaPierre who was appearing on Fox News Sunday in the interview immediately following his and here's how he responded: Kelly Petitions LaPierre To Get On Board With Background Checks:
Mark Kelly, husband to former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, argued Sunday that the Wayne LaPierre, CEO of the National Rifle Association, should support universal background checks for gun purchases because NRA members support this. The NRA formerly supported the idea but has since changed its position.
"So I hope Mr. LaPierre can think about what would his members want," Kelly said on "Fox News Sunday." "You know, 74 percent of NRA members think it is a very reasonable thing to do to have a background check before buying a gun."
And as Dave already noted here, that call fell on deaf ears as LaPierre's reasons for opposing the checks continue to evolve: LaPierre: 'Obamacare' Means Obama Can't Be Trusted on Gun Control.
